The summer kicked off hot with the City of McKinney’s 4th of July Celebration, “Forever Free.”  We enjoyed a Texas chili cook-off contest, children’s interactive games and a custom car show.  The day ended with live entertainment from the Zac Brown Band and choreographed fireworks for the 15,000 friends that showed up to join in the picnic atmosphere and celebrate our country’s independence.  “God Bless America!”

 

 

Text Box: If you ever watched the Indy 500 race, envision yourself on your bike riding around the Brickyard track for 10 laps.  You are trying to beat the clock and win a chance to compete on the “Discovery Racing Team” at the US Pro Championship.  Our winner was 24 year old AJ Smith of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  The day’s highlights included a Lap Lead by Lance Armstrong circling around the track with over 1,000 bike enthusiasts who had contributed to the Lance Armstrong Foundation for a chance to participate.  The experience was so exciting that we experienced a wedding proposal on the start/finish line.  This was a great event and we accomplished our objective by raising funds for cancer research.                                                    

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Text Box: As you can see from the picture on the right of Dave Flutch and his distinguished golfing friend, we had a delightful time at the Ryder Cup.  We stayed close to the K Club near Co. Kildare.  We started our week early with golf at the European Club, Royal County Down, Druids Glen and the new Heritage Club.  All are a must when you get to Ireland and stay near Dublin.
